Obituary
Dean Clement Austin Phillips passed away on June 4, 2025, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Born on October 17, 1968, in Trinidad and Tobago, Dean emigrated to the United States with his family as a child. Though he built his life in America, his heart always beat to the rhythm of his Caribbean roots—he loved soca music, never missed a good “lime” with friends, and found pure joy in celebrating Carnival back home in Trinidad.
Dean had a deep and enduring faith in Jesus Christ and his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in God’s eternal care.
Dean was the beloved son of Herbert and Daphne Phillips, who survive him. He was a devoted brother to Marlene Phillips-Duke, Sherwin Collette, Whitney Alfred, Deborah Phillips, and Arden Phillips, all of whom will deeply miss his presence and his warm smile. Dean was also a caring uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his cherished daughters, Kimberly and Ashley, who were the pride and joy of his life. Dean’s love for his girls was steadfast, and he delighted in seeing them grow into compassionate young women.
Dean graduated from Springbrook High School in 1986, where he played varsity football and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He attended the University of Maryland and went on to pursue a successful career in Information Technology. Dean was not only highly intelligent, but also incredibly passionate—about his work, his family, and his many interests.
Dean loved motorcycles, sports, and lively gatherings with friends and relatives. He enjoyed life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone lucky enough to know him. Dean’s memory will be cherished by a multitude of friends, extended family, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
A funeral service to celebrate Dean’s life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Though he has left this world, Dean remains forever in our hearts, loved deeply and remembered with warmth.
