Obituary
Franklin Lee Johnson, Sr., of Germantown, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Born in Salisbury, Md., he was the oldest son of the late Frank Lee and Daisy Louise Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Fooks; his son, Franklin (Lil Frankie) Lee Johnson, Jr.; and his grandson, Delonte’ Avery Smith.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1963. After the Navy he attended trade school for computer programming. He worked for the Federal government for a few years, worked as a facility manager, was an ordained minister, a truck driver, a chauffeur, a bodyguard, and a DC cab driver for many years until his retirement.
Franklin Lee Johnson leaves to cherish his loving memories, a devoted and loving wife, Irene Johnson, three daughters Linette Barnes of Baltimore, Md., LaTanya Johnson of Germantown, Md., and Monique Johnson of Laurel, Md. Five grandchildren, Crystal Braxton, Shanee (Andrea) Eure, Amaya Johnson, Markell Braxton, and Amir Woods. Five great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother, Helen Catherine Collins of Dover, De., Kenneth (Chrystal) Johnson of Fruitland, Md., and Mabel Annette (John) Jones of San Antonio, Texas, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service for Franklin Lee Johnson, which will be held 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 at Stone Chapel United Methodist Church at 1448 Stone Chapel Rd, New Windsor, MD, 21776, with a viewing one hour before the service. The repast will follow the service.
