Obituary
It is with profound sadness and a shattered heart that we announce the passing of Margo Domon-Davenport on September 16, 2026, at the age of 72. Margo departed this life in Baltimore, Maryland. The cause of death was advanced pancreatic cancer.
Margo is survived by her husband, Howard Davenport; daughter, Ilia Domon; sister, Tanya Fitzgerald; niece, Ebony Fitzgerald. Her first husband, Wendell Domon; son-in-law, Sean Hueber, and a host of extended family members and friends also mourn her passing. Margo was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Fitzgerald; older sister, Brenda Fitzgerald; younger brother, Kenneth Fitzgerald.
Margo was born on Friday, July 23, 1954, in Montclair, New Jersey. In 1969, she attended Our Lady of Good Counsel in Newark, New Jersey. She graduated from East Orange High School in 1972. She enrolled at Howard University where she majored in English literature, and she graduated in 1976.
Margo went on to attend the Howard University School of Law. She earned a spot on the Law Review. Upon graduation from law school in 1979, Margo clerked for the late Chief Judge Eugene Hamilton, Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Margo specialized in communications law. She pursued that interest first at the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia and later at the Federal Communications Commission
Margo will be remembered for her keen intellect, massive library of books, reading a dictionary from cover to cover, quick wit, and a command of facts. She was a loving mother who could always make her daughter laugh, and a devoted wife who adored traveling around the world with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to S.O.M.E. (So Others Might Eat). Margo greatly respected this charity and its mission.
A memorial service for Margo Domon-Davenport will be held on November 7, 2026. It will begin at 11:00 am at Howard University’s Dumbarton Chapel, 2900 Van Ness Street, NW, Washington, DC 20008. The repast will follow immediately after in the chapel’s dining room.
